Classification uncertainty is output from the soft classifiers and expresses the degree of difficulty the classifier has in determining a singlebclass to a assign to a pixel. Areas of high uncertainty are clearly those that need work in refining the classification. High uncertainty occurs for two reasons. The first is because the pixel contains a mixture of more basic categories and cannot be easily assigned to just one interpreted class. The other is that the pixel does not look like any of the signatures provided.
